The UK-Tunisia patient journey

Every step from first consultation to surgery and returning home - how the UK-Tunisia rhinoplasty journey works.

Step by step

  1. Step 1

    Initial consultation (remote)

    By video or phone: your goals, medical history and photos are reviewed, and the surgeon discusses whether surgery is appropriate - and may advise against it.

  2. Step 2

    Personalised quote

    If surgery is appropriate, you receive an itemised quote setting out exactly what is - and is not - included, so you can compare like with like.

  3. Step 3

    Planning and travel

    Your dates, clinic booking, transfers and accommodation are organised with you. No flights are included - you book your own, and should budget them and travel insurance separately.

  4. Step 4

    Pre-operative consultation (in Tunis)

    An in-person examination with Dr Hendaoui, usually the day before surgery, to confirm the plan and answer your questions.

  5. Step 5

    Surgery

    Your operation, under general anaesthetic, in a private clinic in Tunis.

  6. Step 6

    Recovery on site

    A 5-night stay in total: 2 nights in the clinic for monitoring, then 3 nights' recovery accommodation (hotel, full board). Extendable to 8 nights to have your splint removed in Tunis before you travel.

  7. Step 7

    Fit to fly, then home

    The surgeon confirms you are fit to travel and gives you written aftercare instructions.

  8. Step 8

    Follow-up (remote)

    Once home, you have remote follow-up and can reach an English-speaking coordinator by WhatsApp or email.

Where consultations happen

  • Before surgery: initial consultation remote; pre-operative consultation in person in Tunis.
  • After surgery: follow-up remote once you are back in the UK, with local NHS/GP care for anything urgent.

FAQ

How long do I need to stay in Tunisia?
The standard stay is 5 nights: 2 nights in the clinic and 3 nights' recovery accommodation on a full-board basis. It can be extended to 8 nights if you prefer to have your splint removed in Tunis before flying home.
Is the first consultation in person?
No - the first consultation is remote, by video or phone. The in-person consultation with the surgeon takes place in Tunis, usually the day before surgery.
Are flights included?
No. No flights are included - you book and pay for your own flights, and travel insurance is not included either. Budget both separately; we recommend insurance that covers elective surgery and any complications.
